Scott Lauber was named president and chief executive officer of WEC Energy Group and appointed to the board of directors in February 2022. He became president Michigan Gas Utilities and Minnesota Energy Resources in January 2022, and president — Upper Michigan Energy Resources in February 2022. He served as president — We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service from January 2022 to April 2024.

In the president roles, Lauber is responsible for business operations for WEC Energy Group’s utilities in Michigan and Minnesota.

Lauber previously served as senior executive vice, and became chief operating officer in June 2020. In the executive vice president and COO role, Lauber had senior oversight responsibility for Information Technology, Major Projects, Power Generation, Supply Chain, Supplier Diversity, and WEC Infrastructure and Fuels.

Lauber joined Wisconsin Energy Corp. in 1990 and has held positions of increasing responsibility, including financial manager — distribution operations, and manager — corporate accounting and budgeting. In 2003, he was appointed controller — delivery business. In 2011, he was appointed assistant treasurer. He was named vice president and treasurer for Wisconsin Energy and its utility subsidiary, We Energies, in February 2013. He became vice president and treasurer for WEC Energy Group when the company was formed in June 2015. In April 2016, he was named executive vice president and chief financial officer for WEC Energy Group, and added the responsibility of treasurer in October 2018. He was named senior executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer for WEC Energy Group in January 2019, ceding his treasurer duties in October 2019 and his chief financial officer duties in June 2020.

Previously, Lauber was a staff accountant in Arthur Andersen’s Milwaukee office.

Lauber graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting. He also is a certified public accountant.

Lauber is on the boards of directors of American Transmission Co. and Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
