Scott Cherveny

Senior Vice President — Power Generation

Scott Cherveny was named senior vice president — power generation in May 2026.

In this role, Cherveny is responsible for power generation for We Energies and Wisconsin Public Service (WPS), overseeing the companies’ combined generation fleet of coal, natural gas, biomass, wind, solar and hydroelectric assets, as well as the fleet’s support groups, including engineering, planning, training and safety. He also has responsibility for gas storage assets in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin, and for We Energies’ district energy business in downtown Milwaukee.

In his previous role as vice president — power generation, Cherveny had responsibility for the gas generation fleet for We Energies and WPS, overseeing the companies’ combined-cycle power plants, simple-cycle gas turbine plants and reciprocating internal combustion engine (RICE) plants. He also had responsibility for the gas storage assets in Michigan, Illinois and Wisconsin, and the district energy business in downtown Milwaukee.

Cherveny joined WPS in 1990 as a nuclear licensing engineer at Kewaunee Nuclear Plant, later serving as a shift technical adviser and receiving his senior reactor operator certificate. He transferred to the fossil operations engineering group in 1996, then served as the mechanical maintenance supervisor at Pulliam Power Plant in Green Bay from 2001-2004. He joined WPS Power Development Inc. in 2004 as the general manager for several non-regulated power plants in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and New York. He returned to his former position at Pulliam from 2007-2013. He was named transition manager for Fox Energy Center just before the WPS acquisition of the plant in 2013 and then asset manager in 2015. He became director — gas generation in 2023 before his promotion to vice president — power generation in 2025.

Cherveny holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Wisconsin.
